More About the Blog
My name is JJ and I am a client at Footnotes. I have received their trauma focused counseling and been able to transition from struggling and surviving to healing and thriving. My personal goal with this blog is to give hope to those that need it. To show that this type of healing and therapy is important, and with donors help, it is available. Footnotes gave me a chance at life when I didn't think I deserved it. I want to spread as much of that compassion, wisdom, care, and hope as I can.
For donors, this will give an inside look at trauma and the healing process. Showing donors the impact that trauma has on an individual, and the importance of the healing process, is integral to getting those help that need it. It will also serve as a sneak peak into the thoughts and feelings behind being a survivor. It's difficult to understand the impact that trauma has on a person unless it's a shared experience. Even then, trauma affects everyone differently. Hopefully, this blog will assist in breaching the gap between those differences and show just how impactful donor’s assistance can be.
The other goal is to be a guiding light for those who may be struggling. To show them that it is possible to come out of the darkness and be whole again. We want to spread as much hope as we can while being as real and human as possible. Healing and feeling whole again is no easy task. It takes a lot of work and help to get there. None of us can do it alone. We need understanding, compassion, comfort, help and acceptance.
This blog will serve those purposes for donors and survivors alike; in different but meaningful ways.
